1987 (22): Washington DC, New England, Norwich CT

I first met Guin and witnessed his brutal arrest at my first political protest to Impeach Reagan in front of the white house

New England Walk for Nuclear Disarmament

·      

Broke left ankle jumping down a flight of stairs with a 50# bag of potatoes.

·      Left CCNV in July and caught a ride to the White Mountains in New Hampshire

·      Began hitchhiking to Brattle Vermont and then to Pourtsmouth New Hampshire

·      360 mile New England Walk for Nuclear Disarmament with Seeds of Peace

o  1st arrest for nonviolent civil disobedience for holding a banner that read “Bread not Bombs!” and singing “Give Peace A Chance,” while standing on a statue of a missile being launched from a submarine in front of the Groton Submarine base.

o  Hitchhiked from Norwhich CT to DC and back for court

·      2nd arrest with the Stop Trident campaign for blockading the entrance to Electric Boat nuclear submarine ship yard when they were launching a new Trident submarine.

o  Sentenced to10 days in Connecticut state run jail

·      Lived at Daystar Farms in Norwich and worked as carpenter & smelter at a lead foundry building keels for racing yachts.

·      Buddhist peace walk from Boston to New York City

·      Caught a ride leaving Nowich with a Vietnam Veteran who told me the story of how he gunned down possibly hundreds of civilian refugees from a helicopter after the truce began and they were told that they would start returning to the U.S. Tears were streaming down his face.

·               1st Vipassana Meditation 10 day silent retreat – back to daystar farms

·      2 day trial for 1st arrest resulting in jury acquittal of both charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest

·      Hitchhiked from Norwich CT to Seattle

·      Celebration 15 in Seattle

·      Winter caretaker at Shelburne Falls Vippassana Meditation Center

·      Arrive at Peace Camp NV for the April Reclaim the Test Site II 10 day action

·      Arrested 3 times in 10 days including 1st backcountry road blockade of Nevada Test Site

Housing Now Walk for the Homeless from NYC – DC (Seeds of Peace saved this walk with 450 homeless folks from disaster

Las Vegas – Needles CA, - San Diego (for the Republican Convention) – Los Angeles -  Santa Cruz – San Francisco – Reno -Battle Mountain NV – Salt Lake City – Southern Idaho – Boise

·      Opened up the Las Vegas Shundahai House

·      Provided logistical support for Indigenous Environmental Network Camp in New Mexico

·      Hitchhiked with Susi around New Mexico and then to the Human Kindness Foundation community in NC to visit my mother. Drove my moms car to New York, then to Snydersivlle PA in the Poconos. Spent the summer working day labor, road construction flagger, painted house.

·      Drove Susi’s blue van to DC, NC, Wimberly TX, NM, Las Vegas, Tecopa
